More work learning how to do different types of erosion and texturing with Gaea. A lot of the same techniques that went into “Aspen Lake” are evident here but I decided not to cover up any of the textures with trees or other plants this time 🙂
Back In the early days of html few space art was available is what drew my attention my only outlet was Novagraphics but was way way out of a kid working at BK budget.
Just noticed the insectoid and other patterns incised on the surface of the (very big) moon! Keep up the great work.
I cleared my usually busy desktop and saw this landscape.
Beautiful view, with detail in the foreground, and even rendered in the ridges in the distance. Thanks Ryan!
I too like the depth, detail, mix of textures and scale. The figure adds to that feeling of the possibilities of a new unexplored world !
I love the depth and vastness of the scene, and the sense of pending exploration. The planet hanging in the sky perfects the feeling.
It looks really nice. I love the design. Great job!
Very nice piece — and I hope that dude brought some water. . .
21:9 should be there now. Thanks for the heads up (and the kind words) 🙂
The level of detail is astonishing. Wonderful work.
I *LOVE* this image. This might be an instant top 10 all-time. Is there any plan to release a 3440×1440 render?
I like this!
Many of your recent works have been a bit too photorealistic to me. This landscape is a bit more otherworldly — colors are a bit more vibrant, and the exotic planetrise is a nice touch.

I dinged you before and can’t ding you now for this — you are truly “getting it.” That, and the beauty of bleak landscapes. Nice work!
For more ideas of what drylands can be like, check out the Painted Desert, or for that matter (and closer to Illinois) Route 14 though Wyoming. Not far off your route to Yellowstone.

When I look at this image, I picture a place in the game “World of Warcraft”. This image indeed, depicts the area of the game labelled “The Badlands”. In the game, it’s also barren, desolate and devoid of life. This is just amazing how you have captured the essence of what a wasteland can be.
Love the view, amazing detail and otherworldly feel, Awesome Job
