Description

Almost immediately after I posted “Approaching Asgard” I started getting requests for a night version. The scene in the book took place during the day but I won’t let that stop me from reimagining it as a nighttime scene. Here’s my first crack at it. Let me know what you think!

The floating mountain with the spiral ramp reminds me of one of Roger Deans album covers for Yes. I’d love to see a closeup of the mountain and ramp.

Adding to the thoughts provoked by the day version, this one makes this journey particularly challenging. A little more subtle light atop the summit might have been welcome though.

  3. Zealot [lifer]

particular in that darker times (shorter days longer nights) I appreciate the night version.

Love the night even more than the day. The concept is a 10 for me but the details of the mountain/snow and lamps are a bit more basic than I’ve seen you do before.

My apologies!! All of the Split MacOS Triscreens should be showing up now.

    Triscreen Split MacOS files missing.

Just as great as the day version. On my imaginary prog rock album cover, this would be on the flip side. Now if only we had the music to go with it. 🙂

This scene is supposed to be on Mars so there would be very little moonlight available. I used the Milky Way to you could see the floating mountain. Not a perfect solution I know.

It’s nice, inspiring. Fade out the milky way – consider the night sky with a bright moon (which is lighting the foothills/mountain) the stars fade. Also, a few more lights on the path up, and especially the spiral and the towers around the main pyramid might help bring out the floating mountain more.

When I start thinking, that one is the best you can get, then you go and do this!! Keep stunning us!!!

Will there be a 3200×1600 resolution for dualscreen?

  13. GLENN [nonmonthly]

I THINK IT’S THE STAR FIELD IN THE BACKGROUND THAT GIVES THIS A CERTAIN SPLENDOR. I LIKE THIS!

IT ALSO MAKES YOU WANT MORE…MAYBE A VIEW FROM THE TOWERS DOWN TO THE ROAD. ANYWAY, GREAT JOB!!

Fantástico, I really love the detail of the Night Version, Asgaed. Great Job Ryan

Maybe twin rows of little lights along the edge of the ramp?

    And FANTASTIC!

Yes, I definitely like the night version better.

This is better I agree. Majestic truly captures the feeling.

  20. L. [lifer]

I actually like this better than the day version. Something about it is just more…majestic(best word I can come up with). Great job!

It is rather bleak, but I do like it. I do wonder what is lurking in the clouds waiting to pounce.
