Pacific

February is a pretty brutal time of year where I live so I like to escape to someplace warm and tropical with my artwork.    Here I wanted to explore Gaea’s “Island” node and see if I could create an inviting, realistic looking beach scene.    I left out the planets in the sky this time but maybe in the night version 🙂

I hope you enjoy it if you are looking to escape but are stuck in front of a computer.

Cloudbreak (Sunrise)

A number of folks requested a night version of “Cloudbreak” but this is as close as I could get.   Without a bit of sunlight all the landscape details were lost.  Rendered on my Shadowfax workstation during breaks from my new project on Rochallor (stay tuned for that!).

I also wanted to mention that DB 1.0 (and the mobile app) will be depreciated within the next few weeks. This site will no longer be “beta” and will be located on my main domain. The DB 1.0 migration form will still be available (at a new address) until all the old accounts are migrated to the new system.

I did like having a mobile app, and hope to have one available in the future again, but the new site is mobile friendly and no one should have any trouble logging in and downloading my work to their mobile devices (unlike with the old site). Please let me know if you have any questions about the transition!

Cloudbreak

I was driving the other day across the grim Illinois winterscape and saw the sun beaming through a mostly leaden sky.  It inspired me to try to recreate those sunbeams in VUE.   I did attempt to make the foreground, created using GAEA, is a bit more interesting that the barren cornfields that surround me.

It’s another winter scene but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Mist Upon The Meadow

Had to take a break from learning new software to do a quick VUE landscape. Most of my winter renders are full of snow but here I wanted to create a different sort of scene.   Mainly I was interested in using dormant vegetation and lots of earth tones to evoke the season rather than piles of the white stuff.

January in my neck of the woods means that grey and brown are currently the dominant colors and I wanted to try to make something beautiful using that palette.    I hope you enjoy it!
