Description

It’s hard to believe that it has been 20 years since I posted “Tropical Moon of Thetis“. I’ve made lots of similar renders over the years but I wanted to create something with Blender and VUE that was something of a more direct tribute. Night version forthcoming…

all of the tropical moons have been my very favorite. Especially the original typical moon of thetis.

This was also a favorite when it came out. I am a bit distracted by the stretched textures on the left tree branch.

Other Worlds has always been one of my big favorites, love looking at them, the colours, detail, lighting and shading are so life like, they let the imagination go wild.

Wow I remember when this render was new, I feel old now! I’d love to see a new version on Conjunction (1998) that was one of my favorites back in the CRT days!

I’ve always loved the planets and moon scenes but this one is one of my favorites. It’s been so long since I’ve been to the Caribbean but this is a scene I wish could be real. I can almost smell the salt air and hear the water. Thanks for bringing back a true classic

Well, this had to be up on my desktop right away. Love the pastel color palette, and I like anything you do with a ringed planet. (The earlier version is on my phone).

For the most part I really like this render but the texture and color of the trees on the left of the render look almost reptilian like. I don’t know if that is intentional or not, but seems a bit odd compared to the rest of the render which is very pretty and calming.

It would be interesting to me to see versions that factor in gravity and tides. A large moon that close would cause tremendous tidal variations. In this scene, the tide should be way out, and in a scene without the moon (moon on the other side of planet), the water would be quite deep.

Or, maybe the moon is locked in synchronous orbit and this scene is perfect. 😀

I had border-less monitors on my dual screen setup.

Maybe the forthcoming night version will satisfy my need for a multiscreen render of “Tropical Moon of Thetis”. 🙂
