Description

Growing up in a very flat part of the world (central Illinois) clouds were often the most interesting part of the landscape.   It was easy to imagine that distant storm clouds were mountains, giants, or some other fantasy.  With this piece I’ve tried to impart a bit of that wonder by making the sky the main focus and by making the clouds a bit stranger than what might be natural or expected.

The foreground trees in the multiscreen version were a late addition.   I hope no one minds that they are  absent from the single-screen frame but I really wanted the sky to be the focus here.

  2. Alexandr Tyan

    Absolut masterpiece!!!

  3. Evan C

This is one for the records. There are no bright spots which makes this easy on the eyes. Great for a mac desktop! Oh and other desktops too.

  4. Sally Watts

This is great. Put it straight on the desktop. I live in North Norfolk in the Uk, and we have really big skies like this. Love it Ryan.

The tree in the multi-screen renders is an amazing touch. I couldn’t live in the plains areas! Great work.

  6. Charlie Murff

    Beautiful. My new wallpaper.

  7. Darren Bruno

Looks really great. I can’t wait for a night/darker version!

That tree in the dual screen version looks familiar…

I enjoy this render very much. The clouds look awesome. Growing up, I also looked up (and still do at times) to try and make shapes out of the clouds. This render is fantastic!

  11. Michael Taylor

Triple screen has quickly become one of favorites you have done…

  12. Louise Nowlin

I have always enjoyed your cloud renderings. I ordered a book recently on how to paint landscapes with clouds in oils.

  13. KARLA VANESSA FALLAS AGUILAR

Love it! I love watching clouds. Happy to find others that also admire them.

  14. Jennifer Helgren

Lovely work! Can’t wait for the evening or night version.

This is amazing! You could use the ground as the basis for exploring a virtually endless assortment of cloud pattern options. This looks so much like some of the views on our farm.

Wow, I feel so at peace looking at this image. I would like to see what the multi-screen renders look like without the trees so that it is completely open. Beautiful work!

The colors are very muted in this render but I totally get what you were trying to do here and the clouds are beautiful. I live around mountains and lots of trees but clouds have always been fascinating to me. Great job!
