Description

This scene was an exercise using Plant Factory to model hard surface, non-plant, objects. Normally I would have modeled and rendered a scene like this using Lightwave, but Plant Factory objects work so well in Vue that I may go this route from time to time. I hope you enjoy it!

    Nice

  2. Romarch [lifer]

This has the deep architectural feel of some of your early renders – the ones with mages standing on improbable platforms that stretch over wells and chasms, reaching for some portal or scrying window… This is like that, but for the electronic age. I like!

  3. Jim Bonner [lifer]

This is my first visit in 8+ years and the quality of the work has increased exponentially! Bravo Ryan! keep up the awesome work!!!

  4. Eric [liferplus]

TY, I cleared my cache, re-downloaded, and that got it.

Merry Christmas to you and the family!

You may be seeing the old image from your browser cache. Click the link to load the image in your browser and then hit SHIFT-CTRL-R to fetch the updated image from my server. I just checked and it is the correct dimensions 🙂

  7. Eric [liferplus]

This is very strange in deed. I just (prior to this message) re-downloaded the image using the link for “3840 x 1200 (dual widescreen)” twice, and the 2nd time to another folder. The dimensions are still coming up as 3360 x 1050, file size 1,036 KB, & filename (unaltered) rootaccess12x3840.jpg. I’m at work now, I’ll try at home tonight.

Can someone else try the link, and verify / refute my findings?

    TY

Stopped by for a holiday wallpaper for my laptop, had to remote in and change my dev box wallpaper to this.

  9. Michael Espinosa [nonmonthly]

This is a beautiful wallpaper, it really reminds me of Star Wars when Obi Wan has to shut down the death star tractor beam. Add a bit of Tron MCP and you get this. Well done!

  10. doc [liferplus]

I very much like this one. It was only when I was actually able to have a good look at it, particularly the lighter version, I saw all details and colours. (It’s images like these that make me want 4K monitors !)

  11. Ryan

Very odd! The file on my local system was correct so I reuploaded. Thanks for the heads up!

  12. Eric [liferplus]

Ryan, would you check the image size for the file picklejar/rootaccess2/rootaccess12x3840.jpg which I’m downloading and getting as 3360×1050, not 3840×1200.

    TY

Kudos to a very detailed scene, and GREAT idea about fixing things in the 2nd version – Looks fabulous!

  14. Tyler [lifer]

Superior in every way Ryan thank you. Widened the angle, reduced the glare, and overall crisp factor heightened. This one I will set as my desktop.

  15. Littlemom [liferplus]

This definitely looks like something from Star Wars the Force Awakens.

  16. Heather [lifer]

Reminds me of a scene from a recent Star Wars movie. May be just me, but I wish the little dude walking across the bridge was a little bit more visible. Outside of that, great work as always!

  17. Khyren [liferplus]

This reminds me of the first Tron movie and might have been the theme he was going for since Root Access is computer related. I do however agree that for phones, a slightly darker version would be needed to offset the icons from the wallpaper.

  18. Patrick [liferplus]

I love this concept, and “Root Access” would be great for my phone background, but I feel it is too light overall, and I prefer darker backgrounds for my phone. Is there any chance of a more subdued version? I tend to agree with @Hawk about a more zoomed out version too.

Oh yes, otherwise, great as usual.

  19. Rodewaryer [lifer]

Imagining what it would be like within a circuit, and this is a very insightful sample of what one might see. I like it.

  20. ChrisW [basicmember]

I’m not being facetious; I enjoyed Krypton quite a bit, and this looks like a scene we could see in the upcoming second season. I won’t say who the red-robed figure is supposed to be, because I don’t want to spoil the surprise!

That, or this could just be a scene from one of the Christopher Reeve films, and Kal-El’s doing a little routine maintenance down below.

Either way, it’s on my desktop now!

  21. Tyler [lifer]

So when I zoom on this one I see a red caped figured (Superman) and in front of him what looks to be a small figure possibly a cat? I don’t take Supie for a dog lover so must be a cat. Either way can’t really unsee this now.

  22. Nogs [basicmember]

This is nice. I like that you can mix it up between natural scenes and “techie” scenes.

I would challenge you to try to combine the two in some fashion

  23. Phil C. [basicmember]

This looks like something out of the Grid universe of TRON. How I love those movies, and how I love this rendering as a consequence. 🙂

  24. Kelvin [lifer]

I’ve not commented in a long time, this captures something that calls to the sci-fi nerd in me, the light in the columns has a delicate mix of luminescence and gloom, while still beautifully in balance. Very nicely done.

  25. Hawk [lifer]

I do kinda like it. But… if you feel like making another version of it, would you consider making it appear like it goes on for a very long time? This one looks like it’s small. Some of your other scenes like this seem like they go on for a long time, with a huge sense of scale.

And… keep up the good work.

  26. Mark A. [liferplus]

It reminds me of a colorized version of Superman’s fortress of solitude.
