Oasia (Dawn)

Multi-Screen Render

This is probably the last in my “Oasia” time-of-day sequence. Adding the fog bumped up the render time into the 5hr mark, vs 30 minutes for the cloudless versions but I think the effect was worth it here. I know not everyone is going to use these as dynamic wallpaper but I hope you’ve enjoyed the different views as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them.

PS: If I do something like this again I will certainly leave the moons out of the sky as they made the whole thing immensely more complicated 🙂

Presenting the 2020 DB Calendar!

Need a quick facemask? Zazzle is an on-demand printing company but they are trying an experiment where they’ve pre-printed thousands of a select few of their best-selling mask designs so they can ship within 48hrs. They even chose one of mine.

Oasia (Dusk)

Multi-Screen Render

Another in my “Oasia” time of day sequence. I might do more more (Dawn?) and then maybe do some slight pickle jar variations of each to make a proper “dynamic wallpaper” that will change through the day.

Oasia (Noon)

Multi-Screen Render

When Rob Jonson (developer of the Mac app “Multimonitor Wallpaper”) contacted me about integrating my work into his app, he also mentioned another app he was working on that leverages the new “dynamic wallpaper” abilities of MacOS. He wanted to know if I could render a series of images at different times of day.

Normally I only make a day and a night version but he said I would need at least three to make it work so here’s a “noon” version of “Oasia’. I may do one more (dusk? twilight?) and I’m not sure if I will keep all of them in the main gallery or not. Let me know what you think

Oasia (Night)

Multi-Screen Render

For the night version of “Oasia” I wanted to try a few different things. Obviously this scene could be lit a million different ways so that is essentially what I chose to do ;-0 The tree models I used in the original all included “fruit” that could be lit up for an interesting night time effect.

I wanted also the dunes lit from a few different angles with different lights to show off their shapes. This one certainly looks better in a dark room on a bigger screen. I hope you guys will check it out that way and not just on your phone 🙂

Looping Animations

I also wanted to mention that I’ve converted the old MPG files for my looping “animated wallpapers” to the more modern MP4 format used by Zoom virtual backgrounds. Members can download them here. Example below. I will try to make some more if you guys are interested!

Oasia

Multi-Screen Render

This one started as a Gaea doodle while chatting online about DB 2.0 and my developer partner Cris probably noticed me getting quieter and quieter as I got more into it. I still think I could be really dangerous as a landscape artist if I can master Gaea’s toolset and I think I made some good progress with this scene. Is everything perfect? No, but I can get back to working on the new site without the creeping itch to “Make Art!” for at least a few days (unless I decide to make a night version 🙂 ).

I added the water for Jessie. She’s not a fan of deserts 🙂
