The Towering Sky

Growing up in a very flat part of the world (central Illinois) clouds were often the most interesting part of the landscape.   It was easy to imagine that distant storm clouds were mountains, giants, or some other fantasy.  With this piece I’ve tried to impart a bit of that wonder by making the sky the main focus and by making the clouds a bit stranger than what might be natural or expected.

The foreground trees in the multiscreen version were a late addition.   I hope no one minds that they are  absent from the single-screen frame but I really wanted the sky to be the focus here.

Shady Creek (Night)

I decided to attempt a night version of “Shady Creek” knowing full well that it would be difficult to add a lot of light to the scene. I’m sure it looks incredibly dark on social media and on phones but it looked nice on my work monitor (located in my windowless basement office). It’s always a balancing act with these night renders.

Let me know what you think but only after actually setting it on your desktop 😄

Shady Creek

I woke up early yesterday excited to start a new render. I wanted to create something lush and green and I (once again) took inspiration from the forest and creek that I walk beside daily behind my home.

Wooded creeks are a favorite theme of mine but I was surprised to see that it’s been years since I rendered one. I was so excited to work on this I managed to create something I thought worthy of sharing in only a few hours time.

I hope you enjoy it!

Arroyo (Dawn)

Thought I would do at least one variation on “Arroyo“. Sunrises and sunsets are so beautiful in the desert so that’s where I decided to go first. Not sure if I will do a night version or not because this scene was setup to highlight the landscape rather than the sky. I would have to add some sort of light in the foreground or everything would be too dark.

I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think in the comments 🙂
