Description

I recently fired up Mandelbulb3D for the first time a long long while. It’s such an incredible program, capable of geometry that would bring a more traditional 3D program crashing down. So many programs, so little time…

You see eyes??? Really?? Which pair?? This thing creeps me out to no end; the stuff looks as though it’s still sticky. Yuck, as my granddaughter says. Similar to the dungeons/caves on Skyrim, only thicker and nastier. Unreal. Great job, sir.

  2. Kevin Mitchell [basicmember]

This is like some alien fantasy world scene. Truly one of my favorites. Great work.

There’s this show on Netflix called “Love Death and Robots.” It’s a series of animated shorts similar to “Heavy Metal.” This image reminds me of one of those shorts in particular.

If you’ve seen the show, you know EXACTLY which one I mean. And if you haven’t…well, I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

Creepy, unsettling, flesh-crawling…yeah, this one would’ve been perfect for Halloween, but that’s just me.

I have the loossless version on my tri-screen setup. It reminds me of the queens lair in the movie “Ender’s Game”.

Too Cool, Imagination can run wild here,,, love it

I keep thinking of the Xen levels at the end of Half Life every time I look at this.

In any case, impressive work; the detail is fantastic (but I’m still trying to imagine what it could actually be).

  7. Rodewaryer [lifer]

I does spark the imagination, piquing the curiosity to know what lies beyond…and it’s sure different than the latest renders. It just seems to need more depth…

  8. Jenanne [liferplus]

Really love how this looks on my phone, Ryan! I second Jmpond’s night version suggestion.

Are you considering creating a “Night Version” of this render? Something in shades of blues and violets like moonlight would look spectacular! Desktop Icons would be more visible as well. Just a thought… Either way, I will say again: Great Work!!

This is a stunning reminder of Tel Naga in Morrowind – the conflicting feel of brightness and life, vs a feel of skeletal decay captures the spirit of Morrowind so well. Skywind concept art?

  11. Susanj64 [liferplus]

I really like this one. Much different from the last few renders. Is this another of your images relating to how we think?

  12. BobC [lifer]

I’m having fun with this – an inkblot both in its symmetry and the way it’s possible to look at it and see so many different things. My particular take on it (today, at least) is a fantasy forest with a welcoming sunny place beyond. I do like the way the lighting has worked out to illuminate various spots in the image.

  13. Littlemom [liferplus]

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I like the light in the center but it has a claustrophobic underground feeling to it, plus almost a spider web look to it so I’m just not sure how I feel about it, so I only gave it a 7 out of 10.

  14. Cheli in TX [lifer]

Very symmetrical, intricate, and detailed with further viewing, but my first impression was something from the movie Alien. Creepy and unsettling so I don’t think I will put this up as my wallpaper. 😉

  15. Kirrus [liferplus]

Do not google that unless you know you don’t have it. Basically fear of holes in things. It’s a very visceral instinctive dislike, and this one triggers it for me, though I can see it’d be pretty otherwise… 🙁

Well, it could be an alien world, a very close up view of a sponge, or in my morning hunger daze, a bunch of cinnamon bun mound things with icing all over.

    I’m going with option 3. I’m hungry.

  17. Jason Pond [liferplus]

Again, you hit a homer with this amazing piece of digital art! The lossless image makes the render even more impressive. Thanks, Man!!

Anyone else see the eyes, it’s creeping me out maaann! Awesome.
