Description

(UPDATED 12/8): A few Members suggested multicolored lights and I have to say that I think I like it better this way. What do you think?
My first version of “Season of Light” (2005) featured the usual fir tree so I wanted to do something a bit different this time. Around my neck of the woods you will often see bare deciduous trees bedecked with lights so I wanted to try my hand at something similar using Plant Factory. It’s a different vibe from the original but I hope you enjoy it!

The colours in this one are great, I really like both Versions.

  2. Dave [nonmonthly]

My favorite Christmas wallpaper, looks fantastic on my 5K iMac.

  3. Craig [lifer]

    Seems a bit drab.

  4. Michael [basicmember]

I think this one is definitely better with color on the tree. The contrast between the “colorless” background and other areas of the picture and the colored lights makes it more effective to have the color.

  5. jwwalczak [liferplus]

I love almost all of your images, but I’m chiming in to say that I love this in the multicolored lights even more than the original one.

  6. Tarot [basicmember]

Love the lights on the tree and the lossless masters that I just started looking at are amazing. I like this one better as well.

  7. Littlemom [liferplus]

You’ve just made this one a 10!!! Although I think the original is beautiful, you just hit it out of the park on this one by adding the multi-colored lights. Great job Ryan!!!

  8. Laura Tomaja [liferplus]

Ryan – yes, the lit tree is still blurry on 2550×1600 retina mac book pro. The other trees are crisp, seems to be aliasing from the light.

  9. Michael Kenmir [lifer]

    Hi Ryan,

As always a stunning background. I will be adding this to my desktop rotation for the Winter Season. Thank you My Friend!

  10. Ozaawaagosh [plusmember]

I love the light and dark great contrast thank you

  11. Marlowe [plusmemberlifer]

I find this image very hopeful, a beacon of light in the dark surroundings.

  12. Vincent [lifer]

This is such a nice image. Got it set up spread across three 1080p screens at work!

I love the starkness of the barren trees waiting for the season to change. The Reflections in the ice and snow really add to the atmosphere!

  13. WebWorx [lifer]

I look forward to your seasonal desktops and will enjoy this through the new year as I add this into the rotation. Thanks for another smile.

  14. Littlemom [liferplus]

I really like this Christmas render update. I love the tree and would have given it a perfect 10 except I think the red dots on the tree and ground detract from the overall beauty of the lighted tree a little bit. Other than that I think it’s really pretty. And I don’t think the tree looks blurry at all.

  15. Ryan

I noticed the preview image looked blurry to me but it got sharper as the resolution increased. Does it look blurry on your desktop?

  16. Laura [liferplus]

I think it’s a “falling snow” effect, but ends up looking like blur.

  17. Chris Spera [donormemberlifer]

Is it me, or does the tree appear blurry? If its the glow off the lights, then perhaps that is a bit too soft, as it makes the tree appear blurry.

I’d also love to see a colored light version of this as well.

This one is really good, Ryan! Great job!
